Manchester United could reportedly allow Edinson Cavani to leave Old Trafford this summer when his deal at the club expires.

Cavani signed for United last summer on an initial one-year contract, completing the sensational move on a free transfer.

The deal is understood to have included the option of extending it by a further year should both parties reach an agreement.

However, despite enjoying a bright start to life with the Manchester club, the veteran striker could be on his way out.

Recently, his father plunged his future with the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer-tutored side into uncertainty after he claimed the forward was unhappy at England and would push for a move back to South America this summer.

Whereas Cavani has done enough to quell the rumours, a move to Boca Juniors has already been mooted and United are reportedly willing to let him go.

Metro UK citing SunSport reports the situation has forced United to enter the market in search of a centre-forward and are exploring the possibility of buying a stellar name.

It is believed Erling Haaland's name has already been floated, despite United missing out on him to Borussia Dortmund in January 2020.

The Norwegian is currently the talk of town, with a number of top European clubs reportedly queuing up in a bid to secure his services.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City have all been linked with the Dortmund hotshot even with his Bundesliga side resigned to losing him.

Anyone eyeing the striker this summer is expected to fork out on upwards of £120m, thanks to his lucrative release clause.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United record signing Paul Pogba has taken to social media to celebrate his mother and wife on Mother's Day.

The 27-year-old Frenchman posted adorable pictures he took with his mum and wife accompanied by a touching message.

He urged everyone to celebrate every mother around them, adding that they deserve to be happy at all times.
