Sad day as gunmen attack top Nigerian club, kidnap, rob in heartbreaking incident

Players and officials of Nigerian Professional Football League side Adamawa United were on Friday night, February 19, attacked and robbed by gunmen while on their way traveling to Lagos.

The heartbreaking incident happened along Benin-Ore express way at around 11.30pm in which the players lost all their phones, feeding monies and other important properties to the gunmen.

Adamawa United were actually heading to Lagos for their Nigerian Professional Football League week 11 game against MFM at the Soccer Temple in Agege, Lagos.

Reports added that the driver who was driving the coaster bus carrying the players was kidnapped and nothing has been heard about him from the gunmen.

After gaining promotion to the topflight before the start of the ongoing League season in Nigeria, Adamawa have not been finding it rosy in the NPFL.

So far after playing 10 games, they remain the only club who have not gotten a win and they are rooted at the bottom of the table.

In their last home game against FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Adamawa United were forced to a 1-1 draw in a match they should have won.

Meanwhile, Kwara United are still topping the NPFL table and the Ilorin based club will be facing Enugu Rangers on Sunday in their NPFL week 11 game.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Wikki Tourists who are top Nigerian Professional Football League side took to their official social media page to confirm that they had an accident on Thursday morning, February 18, on their way to Uyo.

The Coaster Bus carrying players of the Bauchi based club suffered electric problems along Kibo Road and it burnt to ashes with no life lost in the heartbreaking incident.

According to the report gathered, players of Wikki Tourists were fast enough to rush out of the bus when the fire started from the engine, but all their bags were burnt.

Wikki Tourists will be facing Dakkada this weekend in their NPFL week 11 encounter which will be the first ever topflight match between these two teams.

The Bauchi based side are currently occupying 10th position on the NPFL table, while their opponents for this weekend's game occupy ninth.
