Jubilation at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea target confirms he would leave European champions in the summer

David Alaba has confirmed that he will end his 13-year romance with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich at the end of the season, Squawka.

The 28-year-old's contract at the Allianz Arena will be ending but he did not mention his next destination.

The Bavarians had offered the Austrian international multiple new deals worth £13million but negotiations between the player's agent and the team broke down last November.

And the utility defender has been linked with several top clubs in Europe including Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City.

The two-time Champions League winner took to social media to confirm the departure, saying:

"I have made the decision to leave #FCBayern at the end of this season and try something new.
"It obviously wasn't an easy decision - I've been here for 13 years and the club means a lot to me."

Alaba is now free to discuss with any club outside Germany as the defender is yet to make a decision on his future.

He completed a quadruple of trophies with Bayern when they lifted the World Club trophy over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Real Madrid might be forced to abandon their interest in Bayern Munich veteran defender, David Alaba, over wage demands.

The 28-year-old will be out of contract with his German League champions when the current season wraps up later this year.

However, less than six months to the expiration of his deal with the Bavarians, he is already attracting attention from other top clubs including Chelsea and Barcelona.

Legit.ng also reported that Premier League defending champions Liverpool have reportedly offered Bayern Munich veteran David Alaba a staggering £9m-a-year contract.

The Reds are planning to beat top Spanish League giants to the signing of the Austrian whose deal with the German League outfit expires this summer.

Although the Bavarians haven't given up hopes of persuading the 28-year-old defender to extend his reign at the club with about six months to the expiration of his current deal with them.
