Manchester City went four points clear at the top of the Premier League after a hard-fought 1-0 win against a determined Sheffield United.

Gabriel Jesus’ strike in the first half proved to be the difference as Pep Guardiola’s men made it seven Premier League wins in a row.

The Citizens began the game as typical favorites and created chances early on while dominating majority of possession.

The biggest news of the day as far as the game was concerned was the fact that Guardiola decided to rest the likes of Raheem Sterling, John Stones and Cancelo.

It didn’t matter though, as City were 1-0 up as early as the ninth minute when Gabriel Jesus calmly fired home from a few yards out after some superb work by Ferran Torres down the wing.

There was a general feeling that the opener so early on would open the flood gates and City would descend on the bottom-side with goals but the Manchester Blues were visibly not in their best form on the day.

One of their few other chances was an instinctive header from Bernardo Silva which was dealt with by the keeper.

Ramsdale also did superbly to deny Oleksandr Zinchenko in the second half and moments later kept out Aymeric Laporte from the resulting header.

Sheffield, who came into the match at the back of a surprise result in their favor against Manchester United, rarely threatened going forward.

City nearly got a second one late on but Aaron Ramsdale did brilliantly to save an effort from Gabriel Jesus in added time.

Despite five minutes of injury time being added on, Sheffield could not replicate the result they got at United a few days ago.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United fans will not be happy with the predictions of the supercomputer as their club has been tipped to finish fifth on the table at the end of the season.

The Red Devils are currently second on the Premier League table with 40 points - one behind city rivals Manchester City who have one game in hand.

But the mainframe machine believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men will end up outside of the top four teams on the log with 69 points in May.
