Solskjaer will have key decisions to make as he draws up his United line up, with the midfield posing the biggest challenge.

The Norwegian has to decide if he will start Paul Pogba following the Frenchman's recent resurgence or to drop him for Fred or Scott McTominay.

Both Fred and McTominay have looked like Solskjaer's preferred pairing in the midfield especially during big games.

But owing to Pogba's current form, he sure looks to start in middle of the park at Anfield in a midfield partnership that could include Nemanja Matic and Fred.

Bruno Fernandes will undoubtedly keep his place in the squad to play the no.10 role, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in line to lead the goal hunt.

Skipper Harry Maguire could be paired with the versatile Eric Bailly at the heart of defence, with Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka providing cover on either side of the flank.

David de Gea is expected to keep his place between the sticks as United go hunting for a win.

Speaking ahead of the Merseyside meeting, Solskjaer hinted he does not have major injury concerns ahead of the clash with the exception of knocks for Martial and Matic picked against Burnley.

He, however, disclosed he expects both to shake off the knocks and be fit enough for the fixture.

Should Martial fail to pass the fitness test, Edinson Cavani could be drafted in his place, with either Dan James or Mason Greenwood being deployed on the right to allow Rashford switch on the left.

Victory or a draw against Liverpool will see the Red Devils solidify their place at the top of the standings.

The Old Trafford giants currently enjoy a three-point advantage on the summit at 36 points thanks to their slim 1-0 win over struggling Burnley in their last outing.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Senegal international Sadio Mane could return to Liverpool starting line-up for their Premier League crunch clash against Manchester United at Anfield.

The 28-year-old leaped off the pitch during the Reds FA Cup 4-1 triumph over fellow EPL outfit Aston Villa last weekend.

However, he seems to have pushed that aside as he has been working extra hard to make Jurgen Klopp's matchday squad for the Red Devils.
