Super Eagles defender Zaidu Sanusi has won the Portuguese Super Cup with his club FC Porto following their superb victory over Benfica on Wednesday night, December 23.

This will be the 22nd Portuguese Super Cup that FC Porto will be winning in their history and the players were all in joyous momentum after the final whistle.

This is the first major trophy Zaidu Sanusi will be winning with Porto following his arrival from another Portuguese side Santa Clara this summer.

So far this season, Zaidu Sanusi has played 15 games for FC Porto in all competitions scoring two goals which is an incredible one for a defender.

The 23-year-old was also recently invited to the Super Eagles of Nigeria by Gernot Rohr for the 2022 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone.

Sanusi will be hoping to get more playing time in subsequent games for the Super Eagles.

Nigeria finished as third best at the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt after beating Tunisia.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Nigeria's sports Minister Sunday Dare stated emphatically that the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos will start hosting Super Eagles games from the year 2021.

For more than 15 years now, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have not played any competitive game in at the National Stadium in Surulere due to the nature of the pitch.

The Super Eagles have been playing in Calabar in Cross River state, Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo and Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba since Amaju Pinnick became the NFF president.

According to the report, Minister Sunday Dare recently inspected the National Stadium in Surulere which is currently going on rehabilitation.

Sunday Dare then assured that the Sports Ministry will try hard to make sure that work at the stadium is completed so that the pitch can start hosting international games.
