Man United and Leeds United produced the match of the weekend as the Red Devils won by 6-2 at the Theatre of Dreams.

Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes scored a brace each while Victor Lindelof and Daniel also got their names on the scoresheet.

Leeds showed good fighting spirit as Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas tried to reduce the deficit in the thrilling contest played at Old Trafford.

It was a brilliant extraordinary first half as five goals were scored between both sides in the opening 45 minutes.

United came out firing right from the second minute as Fernandes teed up McTominay who unleashed a canon from outside the 18-yard that went straight into the back of the net to make it 1-0.

The Scotsman got the Red Devils' second after Anthony Martial putting a through ball into the box for McTominay before putting the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 2-0 a minute later.

Patrick Bamford scored at the other end but the linesman spotted the striker in an offside position after a rebounded shot from Raphina fell kindly into his part.

Fernandes made it 3-0 in the 20th minute after taking advantage of a sloppy defending from Leeds, as he powered home his shot beyond goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

Lindelof also got his name on the scoresheet as Martial flicked a header from a corner kick for the Swedish defender to slam home United to make it 4-0.

Cooper pulled one back with a towering header from a corner-kick to reduce the deficit to 4-1 in the 41st minute.

David de Gea produced the save of the season after Rafinha's first-time volley was pammed away by the Spanish goalkeeper in the early stages of the second half.

There were calls for a penalty after an arm was put across the face of James in a counter-attack but the Welshman was booked for diving.

McTominay turned provider for James for United's fifth goals as the winger put the ball between the legs of Meslier to make it 5-1 in the 66th minute.

Two minutes later United were awarded a penalty after Martial was tripped in the box. Fernandes completed his brace with a sublime finish from nine-yards to make it 6-1.

Leeds were not giving up as Stuart Dallas produced a fine finish from outside the box in the 73rd minute to make it 6-2.

Ole Gunnar Solskajer's side moved to third on the Premier League table after recording eighth win of the season following their slow start into the new campaign.
