Reigning Serie A champions Juventus have dropped points at home in the Italian top-flight as hard-fighting Atalanta side force the Old Lady to a 1-1 draw.

Juve will look with disppointment as they were in their bid to chase league leaders AC Milan who still hold have three points ahead of them.

Andrea Pirlo's men began the game on a bright note, but it was Atalanta's Matteo Pessina who had the first real attempt which came in the 7th minute when he fired from from outside the box, but Wojciech Szczesny had it under control.

But the Old Lady opened the scoring in spectacular fashion in the 29th minute courtesy an outside strike by Federico Chiesa as he was assisted by Rodrigo Bentancur.

Cristiano Ronaldo made several efforts to double the lead for the hosts but somehow it remained 1-0 at half-time.

The second-half started brightly for the visitors who began to pile pressure on Juventus - and their persistence paid off in the 57th minute when Remo Freuler rifled home from outside the area to make it 1-1.

In their bid to restore their lead, Juventus threw everything upfront and Chiesa was brought down in the area with the centre referee pointing to the spot.

Expectedly, Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up to take it, but goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini did well to deny the Portuguese.

There were no further ado as it ended Juventus 1-1 Atalanta.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Lionel Messi was not happy that his side lost to Juventus in the Champions League, especially because of his arch rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

It is understood that the Barcelona captain was not happy about the game as Argentine outlet OKDiario via 90min revealed that the result got Messi questioning his future at the club.

Ronaldo got a brace in the game via the penalty spot to ensure Juventus win the group, but it was said that his rival didn’t like it.
