Jorge who is the father of Barcelona star Lionel Messi has rubbished speculation linking his star son with a move to join reigning French champions Paris-Saint-Germain.

Lionel Messi's current contract with Barcelona will be expiring at the end of the ongoing League season in Europe and the club's chiefs have not succeeded in making him sign new deal.

The Argentina international actually wanted to leave Barcelona before the start of the 2020/21 League term because of the club's embarrassing defeat against Bayern Munich in the UCL.

Jorge traveled to Spain from Argentina to have meeting with Barcelona chiefs over the future of his son and was able to convinced Lionel Messi to stay at least to honour his contract.

Since then, there have been reports that Manchester City and Paris-Saint-Germain are interested in Lionel Messi.

There are even reports that Jorge who is also Lionel Messi's agent met Paris-Saint-Germain's representatives over a possible move for his son to France.

According to the report on UK Mirror, Jorge has denied meeting Paris-Saint-Germain chiefs claiming that he has been in Argentina since September.

This latest development coming from Lionel Messi's father is expected to be a boost for Manchester City who are also interested in signing the Argentine.

City boss Guardiola is keen to reunite with his former player at the Etihad and the City boss has also been buoyed by another development in Spain.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Lionel Messi scored the all-important goal that powered Barcelona to a 1-0 victory over Levante at Camp Nou.

The win propelled Ronald Koeman's men to 17 points from 11 matches as they currently occupy the eighth position on the log.

Messi fired a left-foot shot into the right corner of the post after receiving a superb overhead pass from Frenkie de Jong towards the end of the meeting.

However, the goal was not only crucial to the Catalans title campaign as they are nine points behind log leaders Real Sociedad, it also moved the forward to break Pele's goal record.

The goal helped him to increase his tally for the Blaugrana to 642 goals across all competitions - just one more to equal the Brazil legend's number for Santos.
