Mesut Ozil has given a brilliant response to a question by a fan who asked him if he would rather move to Premier League club Tottenham or even retire there.

The Arsenal playmaker took a jibe at Spurs who last won a trophy in 2008 under manager Juande Ramos as he stated that he would only join the club if he does not want to win trophies.

The German star has so far spent seven years at the Emirates and has helped the Gunners to secure three FA Cups during his time.

He had a Q&A session on Twitter on Wednesday, September 9 and a fan asked if he would move to Spurs.

“If I don’t want to win a cup, I should go there,” Ozil responded.

Tottenham came close to winning the League Cup and Champions League under former boss Mauricio Pochettino, but they could only finish as runners-up in the competitions in 2014/15 and 2018/19 respectively.

Ozil also revealed his all-time dream team to his fans on social media and none of his current Arsenal teammates are involved.

The German midfielder who has fallen out of favour with Mikel Arteta told his 24.9 million Twitter followers to ask him series of questions. And one of them wanted to know the 2014 World Cup winner's dream XI as the 31-year-old answered.

There were no condition given on which of the players he should select, but no member of Arteta's side was included.

And meanwhile, earlier reported that Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has aimed a dig at Manchester City over their attempts to sign Lionel Messi when the Argentine wanted out at Barcelona.

The Citizens and a few other clubs including Man United, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Paris Saint Germain all showed their interest in the 33-year-old.

Though, the six-time Ballon d'Or winner has decided to see out his contract at Camp Nou before considering a move away from the club.

The Portuguese-born tactician insisted that the North London club could not have afforded the Barca captain due to their respect for the 'Financial Fair Play' rule.
