Metro UK citing The Times report Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping to complete three more signings, with a centre-half, right wing and a central forward on his wishlist.
But that would mean the Manchester club will have to free up space for new arrivals, leaving them with no choice but to offload some players.
Lingard and Pereira have already been earmarked for sale as they are considered surplus requirements at Old Trafford.
United are stocked in the midfield, with the likes of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay and Juan Mata now set to rival Van de Beek for a starting role.
