Former UFC star Sam Stout and wife Jessie are in mourning following the death of their one-month-old daughter, Sydney.

Stout, who enjoyed a glittering in the UFC before retiring in 2015 took to Instagram to announce the tragic news to his fans.

Whereas the 36-year-old did not reveal the cause of death, he pointed out they had tried 'to save the life' of his daughter.

We tried to save her, but it was too late. The last month with her was the best month of my life, and this is now the worst time of my life," the Canadian posted.

"It still doesn’t feel real. Jessie and I haven’t let go of each other since yesterday and we will continue to hold on to one other for the rest of our lives. We will be eternally scarred from this," he continued.

The post prompted a number of tributes from fans, some of whom have since created a GoFundMe page to help the distraught couple stay afloat.

Stout and Jessie have another six-month-old baby together.

The Canadian made his UFC bow in March 2006 when he won a split decision over fellow lightweight Spencer (The King) Fisher.

Both fighters were battling it out outside the ring before the horrific incident happened.
