Mason Greenwood: Romelu Lukaku says Englishman is Man United's best young player

- Mason Greenwood has enjoyed a significant rise since he broke into Man United's first team

- Despite playing second fiddle to Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, he has managed 12 goals this season in all competitions

- Lukaku, who spent two years at Man United is now backing the youngster to be a success at Old Trafford

Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukaku has singled out Mason Greenwood as Man United's best young player.

Lukaku enjoyed a two-year stint at United under Jose Mourinho, before linking up with Antonio Conte at Inter last summer.

And it appears the former Everton and Chelsea striker saw Greenwood as an emerging prospect.

The English youngster has enjoyed a significant rise under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who handed him first team debut in United's 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

The Red Devils academy graduate has since been a regular albeit as a backup forward, finding the back of the net 15 times in the currently suspended campaign.

His fine form in front of goal has seen him court comparisons with former star Robin Van Persie, with Lukaku backing him to be a success at Old Trafford.

"Greenwood that boy cold," the Belgian said in a Q&A with fans.

When asked the same question of Chelsea, Lukaku picked out Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount.

He was also keen to point out his appreciation for both of his former clubs, admitting 'both experiences were good.'

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has chosen Lionel Messi as the best player in the world ahead of his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

Despite playing alongside Ronaldo at Man United, Rooney believes Messi makes football look so easy, Mirror reports.

There have been several debates on who the better player is between Messi and Ronaldo as the duo have won 11 Ballon d’Ors between themselves.

However, Rooney’s statement might not go down well with fans of his former club Manchester United as Ronaldo at some point in his career wore the jersey of the club.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo is not at the level of Barcelona captain Lionel Messi, according to Man United legend David Beckham.

Despite passing on the No.7 shirt at Man United to Ronaldo, Beckham believes Messi is the only player of his class.
