Anthony Joshua: Nigerians in disbelief as boxing champion gets national identity slip

- Anthony Joshua officially got registered by the NIMC and immediately handed his identification slip

- The Nigerian-born British heavyweight champion who hails from Ogun state is now a bonafide citizen of Nigeria

- But Nigerians have reacted in disbelief to development claiming they have not got their original identity cards after years of application

Anthony Joshua has taken a step further to become a bonafide citizen of his fatherland like every other Nigerian citizens.

The WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO heavyweight champion officially registered to get his national identity card and was handed the slip that had his identification numbers.

But many of the complaints were about getting the original identity cards after several years of registration. Nigerians reacted after NIMC posted photos of the Joshua's registration on their Twitter handle.

One Twitrer user said: "Anthony Joshua should expect to get his original National ID by 2025. I applied for my national ID since 2015 I haven’t received it."

Another added: "I hope Anthony Joshua's own will not be ready before mine. Baba just applied yesterday."

A third said: "Since February 2014, I enrolled for the National ID card and I've not gotten it. This is 2020 and no hope yet."

A fourth user made the same complain: "Imagine ordinary Nigerian citizens waiting for 7 years and counting to receive their National ID card, and Anthony Joshua getting his own 7 days after enrollment."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Manny Pacquiao is the best boxer of the 21st century ahead of unbeaten fighter Floyd Mayweather.

According to the Ranker's list, the Filipino is the only boxer who have held belts in four different decades of the sport.

Mayweather whose unbeaten record still stands at 51-0 came second and the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Roy Jones Jr, and Vladmir Klitchko complete the top five spot.

Legit.ng also reported that Eddie Hearn has taken a dramatic u-turn on decision regarding who will emerge victorious in the Deontay Wilder vs Tyson fury rematch.

Anthony Joshua's promoter admitted that from the things he observed in Fury's training camp he would have to submit to the fact that Wilder will knock the British heavyweight fighter out.
