Odion Ighalo records 1-shot on target same as Chelsea team in United debut

- Odion Ighalo got one shot on target against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

- The whole Chelsea team also got only one shot on target against Manchester United

Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo finally made his debut for Manchester United on Monday night, February 17, in the Red Devils' 2-0 win over their much heralded opponents.

The encounter was a dream come true for Odion Ighalo as he had for years wanted to play for Manchester United in the Premier League.

Gone are the days when Odion Ighalo used to play on the streets in Ajegunle, Lagos, today, the Nigerian star is on the books of one of the biggest clubs in the world.

He did not have enough time to train with his new Manchester United teammates when he got to England as he was excused from the traveling team to Spain for winter training.

Manchester United started the match against Chelsea with high spirit, but they had to wait until the 45th minute before France international Anthony Martial netted the opener for them.

Before United took the lead at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea star had protested that United captain Harry Maguire be sent off following his challenge on Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi.

But the referee ignored Chelsea's claim as Harry escaped been red carded in the tough Premier League encounter.

Chelsea really missed the service of main striker Tammy Abraham who was not available as the trio of Willian, Olivier Giroud and Michy failed to get needed shots for the Blues.

In fact, Frank Lampard's men only got 1 shot on target throughout the entire game against Manchester United in front of their faithfuls.

They however had two goals disallowed due to the the referee's consultation on the VAR system which ruined the night for the Stamford Bridge landlords.

However, Odion Ighalo came on in the 91st minute as replacement for Anthony Martial and the Nigerian had a shot on target against Chelsea.

Ighalo even almost scored on his debut, but his strike was saved by goalkeeper Willy Caballero.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Manchester United kept the hopes of them making the top four this season alive after beating mighty Chelsea 2-0 in a tough Premier League encounter on Monday night, February 17.

Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire scored the two goals for Manchester United in this encounter as Chelsea fans expressed their disappointment to the result gotten.

The Blues fans have even changed the name of Var to Varchester United after Manchester United defender Harry Maguire escaped being punished after a foul on Michy Batshuayi.
