Manchester United on Tuesday night, April 2, failed to get the perfect revenge on Wolves after losing to 2-1 to the Nuno Espirito-tutored side in a tough Premier League match played at Molineux Stadium.

The Red Devils had to play ten men for the better part of the match after Ashley Young was handed marching orders in the 57th minute.

New United permanent manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, fielded a much-changed side from the one that laboured for a 2-1 win over Watford at the weekend, introducing youngster Scott McTominay and Fred to the squad.

The tactical move paid off in the 13th minute of the match as McTominay gifted the visitors the lead, sending a diagonal fizzer towards the bottom left.

However, the lead was short lived, with Diogo Jota restoring parity for the hosts in the 25th minute, lifting a shot calmly over a helpless David De Gea as the first half finished 1-1.

In the second half, Wolves continued mounting more pressure on their opponents and got Young sent off after the Englishman crumped on Jota's lower leg with his studs.

Nuno Espirito men went on to capitalise on United's numerical inferiority in search for a win as they dominated proceedings thereafter.

With just 13 minutes left to end the match, Chris Smalling directed the ball to his own net amid defensive shambles to gift Wolves a 2-1 lead to dent United's hopes of a top four finish.
