- Arsenal are close to landing Germany and Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno
- The Gunners are planning to strengthen their squad for competition in the coming season
- Leno has two more seasons on his contract with his German side and might sign a five year contract with the Emirates Stadium outfit
Premier League side Arsenal have reportedly agreed to sign Germany international Bernd Leno for an initial €22 million (£19.2m) this summer.
The Beyer Leverkusen was part of the German team that won the 2017 FIFA Confederation Cup in Russia but failed to make the final 23-man squad for this year's global football showpiece this summer.
He was superb for Bayer Leverkusen last season - keeping 10 clean sheets in 33 Bundesliga matches, and his performance has attracted the Gunners coaches to go after him as a perfect replacement for Petr Cech.

Leno has a running contract with his current club until the summer of 2020, but if this deal with the Gunners pull through, he will sign a five-year deal with the north Londoners.
Arsenal have a new manager (Unai Emery) and the club is also planning to strengthen their squad for competition next season.
It is understood that the Emirates Stadium outfit could pay additional £3 million in bonuses as part of the deal.
The north Londoners failed to finish among the top four teams at the end of last season - meaning they will be campaigning for the second time on a bounce in the Europa League.
Meanwhile, Cech could be relegated to the bench once the German keeper arrives at the club this summer.
