Jeff Bezos awards Dolly Parton

The musician was awarded N44 billion by the billionaire in the award that honours leaders who pursue courage and civility solutions.

Bezos and his partner, journalist Lauren Sanchez made the announcement. While announcing Dolly as the recipient, Sanchez said they are looking forward to what she will use the awarded billions for.

According to Metro, Dolly, while receiving the courage and civility award, was surprised.

She said:

"Wow! Did you say $100 million?"

Sanchez hailed the country music hitmaker saying she is a compassionate person with a heart that leads with love.

Jeff Bezos to give out fortune

According to Daily Mail, Bezos announced he would surrender his fortune to charities that are geared at addressing climate change.

Bezos, the founder of Amazon, disclosed he is willing to support those that seek to unify the human race and heal political and social divisions.

Exact details of the charities that will benefit from the tycoon's deep pockets remain under wraps.

In an interview with CNN, Bezos who was with his partner stated they were building capacity to be able to give away his wealth.

When probed if he would give away his wealth during his lifetime, the Amazon founder responded in the affirmative.

"Yeah, I do," Bezos said.

Critics, however, took a swipe at the tycoon, pointing out that he had not signed a pledge by a huge number of the world's wealthiest people to donate their wealth to charity.

Bezos and Sanchez in their first joint interview since they began their courtship in 2019 shed light on the Bezos Courage and Civility Award that was won by Dolly.

In the interview, Bezos' lover disclosed plans for an all-female crew for an outer space visit.

Burna Boy wins big at MTV EMAs

Meanwhile, Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy continues to represent the country across the globe as he scored another major milestone.

Legit.ng reported that the Twice as Tall musician was recently crowned the Best African Act for the year 2022 at the just concluded MTV EMAs award.

Burna Boy managed to clinch the award ahead of his Nigerian colleague Tems and Ghanaian fast-rising singer Black Sheriff.
