Man Who Got to US on His Own Celebrates as he Gets Quick Job Upon Graduation from University, Many React

It is double celebration for a young man as he recently graduated from the university and got a job as he finished school.

The man identified as Shiv Thakur, in a LinkedIn post, said he had entered the United States - courtesy of a visa lottery he won - at the young age of 19 alone.

The Nepalese added that he had worked at a gas station for a year before he met the Vice President of a secondary school who helped him register English as a second language.

He would go on to ace his secondary school exams while combining it with two full-time jobs and went on to win a scholarship to further his education.

His post read in part:

"I came to the U.S. from Nepal by myself at 19 years old on a Diversity Lottery Visa. Worked at a gas station, for almost a year, where I met the Vice President of Bristol Community College who helped me to register for English as a Second Language.
"Within a year, I completed 12 ESL courses at Bristol Community College working two full-time jobs. After getting my Associate Degree from Bristol Community College, I transferred to Northeastern University where I got a full-ride scholarship to complete my education.
"As a first-generation college student in my family, I am thrilled to share that today, I have graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Entrepreneurship and a Master of Science in Engineering Management.

"I would like to thank my parents, relatives, faculty, staff, coop supervisors, and friends who have helped me on this journey. Without them, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Additionally, I am really excited to start my full-time job as a Project Engineer at Sequence Inc."

Social media users took to the comment section to hail his perseverance and hardwork as they congratulated him.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported a young man had celebrated graduating from university at his father's grave side.

Having achieved a worthwhile milestone, he found it prudent to celebrate with the man who sired him, even though he is no longer alive.

"I just came over to let you that m graduating next week Friday with a credit and it's not been easy, yet through His mercies, it is finished. It is barely six years now since you departed from us yet the pain inside our hearts is like yesterday's event," read part of the statement.
"I never thought I would come this far, never even crossed my mind that one day I would be in the university, but here I am father standing on the same spot I stood six years ago testifying that the Mercies of the Lord endure forever."
