Real Madrid legend and ex-goalkeeper Iker Casillas has reportedly agreed to part ways with wife despite them having two children together Daily Mail reports.

Shortly after winning the World Cup with Spain in 2010, Casillas was caught on live TV kissing the presenter and journalist Sara Carbonero.

It was gathered that their relationship which began in 2009 is now over as both have agreed to divorce, as cited in SPORT newspaper this week.

Reports further suggest that the ex-goalkeeper has been forced to give away custody of their two kids Lucas, four, and Martin, seven.

He will continue to pay for their education. It is believed that the couple has separated for over five years now with reports claiming 'love and family have prevailed' in the separation, with relationships remaining friendly and Casillas able to visit the children 'flexibly'.

The 39-year-old, who most recently played for Porto before retiring in 2020, has now moved to another house in the Moncloa-Aravaca district of Madrid, while his family remain in La Finca.

The pair were together for 12 years and famously enjoyed a romantic moment on live television when Carbonero interviewed the goalkeeper just moments after he had won the World Cup with Spain.

Iker Casillas announced his retirement from football at the age of 39 after making 725 professional appearances between the sticks.

He called it quits after a glittering career winning the Fifa World Cup, two European championships with the national team and the UEFA Champions league three times with Los Blancos.

Recall that the legend had heart-related complications in May last year, however he managed to return to action a couple of months later.

His former club Real Madrid was quick to react as they paid tribute to the man who spent more than 16 seasons at the club between 1999 and 2015.

Legit.ng earlier reported that former Ivorian international and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has announced his separation from his estranged wife Lalla Diakite.

The pair married on June 12, 2011, in Monaco in the presence of selected guests, but player claims they have separated after 20 years of togetherness.

Although he did not explain reasons for their separation, the two-time Africa Player of the Year Award recipient, however, noted that it was a difficult decision.

He also stated that their three children will get maximum protection, adding that the privacy of the family will remain protected.
