CDQ: Rap Star Granted Bail after NDLEA Arrest, Still under Investigation

Popular Nigerian rapper, Sodiq Abubakar Yussuf aka CDQ, has been granted bail shortly after he was picked up by operatives of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at his Lekki residence.

According to an exclusive report by The Punch, the NDLEA’s director of media and advocacy, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the arrest of the rapper and made it clear that he is still being investigated.

Babafemi disclosed that the rap star was nabbed after a variant of cannabis known as ‘loud’ was found in his apartment.

The director was quoted to have said:

“Yes, CDQ was arrested in his house at Lekki for being in possession of cannabis. He was arrested based on intelligence. As of last night, he was granted administrative bail, but he is expected back into custody today because it is an ongoing investigation.”

Recall that Legit.ng had earlier reported that CDQ took to his official page on Instagram noting that some people are trying to set him up in Lagos.

An upcoming artiste identified as Wilmerafrica also commented on his post claiming that he saw when NDLEA operatives stormed his residence.

Wilmerafrica in a brief chat with Legit.ng recounted how he heard the Say Baba crooner making calls to a friend after what seemed like a physical exchange with one of the NDLEA men.

He said:

"I can't tell if a hand was placed on him but one of the operatives pushed him to the ground in order to get access into his apartment. Immediately this happened all I could hear was sound slaps and aggressive shouts (clearly we know its not cdq slapping them).
"I don't know if someone came to intercede but cdq was trying to make a call to his friends cause I recall him saying he was home alone."
