Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa is currently the major topic of discussion among football fans, sports reporters in Nigeria and other parts of the world after his return to Kano Pillars.

The former Leicester City striker has been out of action since October 2020 and all his efforts to get a club in Europe were futile during the transfer window.

Ahmed Musa is now expected to play for Kano Pillars until the end of the 2020/21 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

Kano Pillars are currently occupying second position on the NPFL table behind leaders Kwara United and they will be facing Warri Wolves in their next game.

In this report, we take a look at some former Super Eagles players who also returned to the Nigerian topflight after years in Europe.

1. Dele Aiyenugba

Former Super Eagles goalie Dele Aiyenugba spent 13 years in Europe before making a return Nigeria and he is currently the number one for Kwara United.

2. Rashidi Yekini

Late former Super Eagles striker Rashidi Yekini also returned home from Europe and played for Gateway of Abeokuta before he retired from football.

3. Daniel Amokachi

Daniel Amokachi was known for his brilliant shot during his active playing time as he played in the Premier League for Everton.

But before the former Super Eagles star retired from football, Daniel Amokachi played for Nasarawa United in 2005.

4. Etim Esin

After thrilling the Nigerian fans, Esin headed for Europe and featured for Belgian outfits, AA Gent, Lokoren and Lierse SK.

Before he hanged his boots, he returned to Nigeria and played for Shooting Stars of Ibadan.

5. Garba Lawal

Former Super Eagles star Garba Lawal also made a return to the Nigerian League from Europe and played for Lobi Stars before he retired.

6. Sani Kaita

In 2014, Kaita was back in Nigeria training with Enyimba before joining them on a three-month loan deal.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Dele Aiyenugba who is now with Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) leaders Kwara United expressed happiness over Ahmed Musa's return to Kano Pillars.

Kano Pillars' management made the announcement on Tuesday night, April 13, with the Sai Masugida chiefs confirming that Ahmed Musa will be unveiled by Kano state Governor Ganduje.

Before leaving Nigeria for Europe in 2011, Ahmed Musa recorded his name in the history books of the Nigerian topflight as he scored 18 goals in a season for Kano Pillars.
