United Nigeria: Ohanaeze blasts IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu over secession quest

The quest to secced from Nigeria by IBOB under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu has been rubbished by the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
According to the president-general of the organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Professor George Obiozor, Kanu, and his conspirators have made people pointed accusing fingers at Igbos as secessionist, Punch Newspaper reports.
He discloed this at the grand reception in his honour by Ndigbo in Lagos. The former Nigerian ambassador to the United States, insisted that Ndigbo were not at war with Nigeria.
However, he insisted that the Ndigbo would continue to seek justice, peace and fairness in all their dealings with everybody in Nigeria.

He said:
“The Igbo nation is not at war with Nigeria and we are not intending to go into war or demand a separate existence from Nigeria. So Igbo are not secessionists.
“Concerning the problems and the fingers pointed at Igbo because of Nnamdi Kanu, Nnamdi is our son and he must listen to us! The future of Biafra is well beyond the capacity of young men.
“Everybody should stop utterances or actions that will or have the tendencies to put Ndigbo in present and immediate danger. That is what my message is in this matter.
“Biafra requires mature and experience handling and not a child’s play. Children should stop playing with fire and children shouldn’t play with fire. Nnamdi Kanu is one of us. He is our son and he must listen to some of us because he’s one of us.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Obiozor frowned on the use of force by the Nigerian military during the crisis in Orsu in Orlu zone of Imo state.
According to Professor Obiozor who is a former Nigerian ambassador to the United States of America, applying force to tackle the crisis will amount to national catastrophe.
He made the comment on Monday, February 22 when he visited a traditional ruler in the area.
In another development, some Igbo leaders led by Chief John Nwodo, former president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Wednesday, February 10, visited the National Assembly to demand the creation of another southeast state from Enugu.
It was reported that Nwodo met with all the key officials in the National Assembly to push for the new state which he called 'Adada' adding it was approved at the 2014 national conference.
Responding to the demand during a meeting with the delegation, Senate President Ahmad Lawan said it is a legitimate agitation.
Barely four days after they National Assembly to demand the creation of another state for the zone in the spirit of fairness, a former senator, Shehu Sani, has reacted.
Legit.ng reports that Sani, who represented Kaduna Central at the Senate during the 8th National Assembly, asked the leaders to jettison their agitation for the creation of more states.
He said if they understand the cumbersome procedure in the constitution, they would shelve the idea.
