Kaduna Electric announces collapse of power grid

- This is as the national power grid again collapsed on Sunday afternoon, November 29

- Kaduna Electric and EKEDP have called for calm, assuring that the development is being addressed in partnership with TCN

Again, Nigeria's power grid has collapsed on Sunday, November 29, plunging some parts of the country including Kaduna, Kebbi and Zamfara into a total blackout.

The unfortunate development was announced by the Kaduna Electric in a statement on Sunday afternoon, saying the "collapse occurred at about 11:26."

Abdulazeez Abdullahi, head of corporate communication of the power unit, appealed for calm and assured that the power supply "shall be restored as soon as the grid is back up."

"Dear Esteemed Customers, we regret to inform you that the loss of power supply in our franchise- Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states- is as a result of the collapse of the national grid.

"The collapse occurred at about 11:26 am this morning. Supply shall be restored as soon as the grid is back up. We regret all inconveniences."

Also, speaking on the national grid collapse, the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDP) said efforts are ongoing with TCN to restore power back to the affected areas.

"Dear customer, The outage you’re experiencing is due to a system collapse on the National Grid. We are working with our TCN partners to restore supply as soon as possible. Please bear with us."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF) said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has failed to adequately secure northern Nigeria.

The forum in a statement, on Monday, November 23, accused the administration of lacking care for the people of the north.

A spokesperson for the NEF, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, faulted the Buhari government for the slow pace of the work on the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Highway. Baba-Ahmed said the forum recently discovered that the highway would take five years to complete.
