Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi constantly make the headlines on daily basis owing to their lifestyles on and off the pitch.

Their records and achievements are so enormous that their various fans have continued to make comparisons between them.

While the Portuguese star has the highest number of Champions League titles in the history of the competition, Messi is the only player with six Ballon d'Or awards.

Although many will argue the Argentine has not won a single silverware with his national team while the 35-year-old led his country to European Championship triumph, the feat he has achieved in his career cannot be underestimated regardless.

However, fans have now decided to x-ray the achievements of the duo at the age of 33 as reported by Give Me Sport.

Ronaldo at the age of 33 had won his fifth Champions League title, scored a hat-trick at the FIFA World Cup and left Real Madrid as their record goalscorer.

At that same age, he scored a stunning bicycle kick against Juventus in the final of the UEFA elite competition - a goal that contended for the Puskas award two years ago.

He (Ronaldo) also scored in his final El Clasico match - a fixture Messi has been uninspiring in the last two seasons.

The 2014 World Cup finalist has struggled for form this season - scoring just one goal from an open play while Barcelona are languishing on 12th position after eight rounds of games.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo was in superior form halfway through his 34th year on the planet compared to Messi both in terms of club, country and individual performances.

However, the biggest reason to sprinkle a pinch of salt on the situation is that Messi isn't a happy bunny right now and you could tell that he stayed at Camp Nou this summer through gritted teeth.

It's by no means all Messi's fault - besides, so much is going wrong at Barca - but even the man himself would admit that only being Europe's 22nd best player this season isn't good enough.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Cristiano Ronaldo is just eight goals away from becoming the all-time highest goals scorer at the international level.

The 35-year-old headed home his 102nd goal in Portugal's 7-0 win over Andorra in their international friendly game earlier this week.

Iranian football legend Ali Daei is the only footballer in history with more goals than the Juventus attacker with 109 goals from 149 appearances.
