Popular Nigerian music star Bankole Wellington aka Banky W has once again taken to social media to use his platform to speak against an important issue of concern in the country.

The singer and politician in a post shared on his official Twitter page on Friday, July 10, criticized the practice of child marriage in Nigeria.

According to the musician, a lot of Nigerians who are in support of getting married to children do so under the guise of religion.

“Some Nigerians try to hide behind religion as the reason why they should be allowed to marry children,” Banky’s tweet read in part.

Speaking further, Banky W used Saudi Arabi as a point of reference and submitted that if the consent age in the holy land of Mecca can be raised to 18 then Nigeria has no excuse.

This is not the first time the singer will be vocal about social issues on his platform. Some weeks ago, Legit.ng reported that Banky W reacted to the N27b allocated to the National Assembly by the FG for renovation.

The Jasi crooner in a Twitter post called out the FG noting that Nigerians are in dire need of funds for food, healthcare, education among other things.
