Re-run: PDP wins House of Assembly seat in Benue
- The PDP has clinched another seat in the Benue state House of Assembly
- The election conducted on Saturday, January 25, witnessed the PDP polled 6,742 votes
- The APC candidate Musa Alechenu polled 6,341 votes to come second in the election
The People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) has won the Ohimini state constituency rerun election conducted in Benue state on Saturday, January 25.
Christopher Adaji, candidate of the PDP has been declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).
The returning officer, Professor Nicodemus Agbulu declared the result at the INEC office in Idekpa, Ohimini local government area of Benue state.

He disclosed that Christopher Adaji of the PDP polled 6,742 votes to defeat his opponent, Musa Alechenu of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) who polled 6,341 votes.
According to him, the total registered votes stood at 41,427 while accredited voters were 17,424 and the total votes cast was 16,984 revealing that 417 votes were rejected.
Meanwhile, Honourable Abdulmumini Jibrin of the APC in Kano state has lost his bid to return to the green chambers.
Jibrin lost his seat to his rival, Alhaji Ali Datti Yako of the PDP in the rerun election for the Kiru/ Bebeji federal constituency held on Saturday, January 25.
Similarly, the APC lost in the supplementary election conducted in Bauchi state for the House of Representatives rerun election for Zaki federal constituency.
The party was defeated by the ruling PDP in the state as its candidate, Hon Auwal Jatau, won the election.
