Tears, jubilation in Imo over Supreme Court judgment

He urged the people of Imo and the entire Nigerian people not to give in to despair over the verdict, expressing the confidence that Nigeria like other times would overcome what he described as despotic times.

Meanwhile, the PDP has faulted the ruling of the Supreme Court which, on Tuesday, January 14, dismissed the victory of Emeka Ihedioha, as governor of Imo state.

The party, in its official reaction to the judgment, which favoured Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC), recalled how Ihedioha came fourth at the poll and wondered how such a person could be declared winner.

The PDP lamented that the people's collective destiny had been taken from the governor they chose and handed over to someone and a political party that the residents do not want.

It said Ihedioha's progress as governor of Imo state is now being jeopardised as a result of the judgment.
