Jean-Jacques Muyembe Tamfum: Meet man who got really close to defeating deadly Ebola virus
This is good news coming to Africa after a part of the continent have been ravage by the deadly Ebola virus for years.
An African from Democratic Republic of Congo, Dr Jean-Jacques Muyembe has found a cure for the Ebola virus. The virologist spent 43 years of his life finding a cure for the virus which has affected his country since 1976. No wonder the Lancet once described Muyembe as ‘Africa’s ebola hunter.
Dr Muyembe said he has spent over four decades of his life searching for a cure to the Ebola virus. he describes the discovery as the achievement of a lifetime and the biggest news of the year. The discovery is antibodies that fight the Ebola virus. It neutralises the virus and the symptoms disappear and the patient will feel better within one hour of taking the treatment.
Muyembe and his team announced a new cure that has proved effective in curing 90% of Ebola patients when symptoms are reported early.

Dr Muyembe is the general director of the Democratic Republic of Congo National Institute for Biomedical Research.
Before the latest discovery, the Ebola virus is known to have no cure and anyone who contacted it are confined to avoid coming in contact with others.

Legit.ng reported that a Nigerian doctor, McGinger Ibeneme, was honoured with his colleagues by the African Union with medals for helping to stop the spread of Ebola virus across four African countries, Nigeria, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, four years ago.
It was also reported that President Muhammadu Buhari, in a tweet on Saturday, October 27, paid tribute to late Dr Stella Adadevoh who died in August 2014, after contact with a Liberian diplomat, Patrick Sawyer, who was diagnosed of Ebola.
The late doctor ensured that Sawyer was quarantined despite threats from the Liberian government to let him go. Dr Adadevoh’s heroic move helped check the spread of the Ebola virus in the country thereby saving millions of Nigerians from the deadly viral disease which she eventually died of.
