The presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has become the subject of attack on Twitter following his decision to withdraw his presence at the presidential debate held on Saturday, January 19, in Abuja, The Punch reports.
Recall that Atiku had in a Twitter post defended his absence, citing the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari of All Progressives Congress (APC) as his reason for leaving the venue.

One of those who attacked the two candidates is a former presidential candidate of KOWA party, Remi Sonaiya.
Commenting though her Twitter account, the retired professor of applied linguistics said: "But what if the incumbent had already spent 8 years and was no longer qualified to run? Would a debate then be unnecessary or useless? Debates are for candidates to present themselves to the electorate, sir! #2019Debate
Also reacting is the convener of BringBackOurGirls campaign, Aisha, Yesufu. She berated both Atiku and Buhari for disrespecting Nigerians for their absence.
She said: "Nigerians are being disrespected and they dont know they are being disrespected. They actually give themselves up to be disrespected. What a shame!#BuTiku is one and the same and not debating #2019Debate."

He said: "We came here for a presidential debate, not a candidacy debate, and I, Atiku Abubakar cannot challenge or question an administration where the man at the helm of the affairs of the nation is not present to defend himself or his policies."
