Police kill 2 rustlers, injure many others and recover 413 cattle in Kaduna

- The police have clamped down on a notorious gang known for cattle rustling and kidnap in neighboring villages and towns in Kaduna state

- Two of the cattle rustlers were reportedly killed in a gun battle with operatives of the inspector-general of police

- The team, however, listed the number of the cattle and sheep they recovered and subsequently returned to their owners after proper identification

Two suspected cattle rustlers were on Thursday, November 29, killed in gun battle with operatives of the inspector-general of police known as Operation Absolute Sanity at Kagarko forest in Kaduna state.

The rustlers were said to have engaged the operatives in a gun fight after they were caught fleeing with 413 rustled cows and 50 sheep.

Legit.ng gathered this in a statement signed by public relations officer Jimoh O. Moshood.

According to a statement, ''The incident occurred around 2am, forcing other members of their gang to abandon the stolen herds and an AK47 rifle. The recovered herds were moved to Katari town where their owners identified them.''

The police said there were 76 cattle and nine sheep left unclaimed after disbursements to the other owners.

They said 71 cattle belonged to Idi Ibrahim, 45 cows to Addullah Sani, Ibrahim Mohd owned 13 cows, Adamu Lawal 21 cows and 26 sheep.

According to them, “Others include Suleiman Sa’idu- 33 cows and two Sheep; Hamisu Ya’u- eight cows; Musa Sani -65 cows and 13 sheep; Sale Sani -60 cows; Rumi -17 cows; Yakubu Katafila- two cows and Yusuf Muhammad-two cows.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that some gunmen suspected to be armed robbers attacked two new generation bank branches on Wednesday, November 29, in Lapai town, Lapai local government area of Niger state.

According to the report, the robbers killed two policemen and an undisclosed number of civilians during the attack.
