OSUN ELECTION: Two INEC Men Arrested Trying To Move Sensitive Election Materials

Two INEC workers posted in Obokun LGA area of Osun State have been arrested for trying to divert sensitive election materials ahead of the August 9th governorship election.

One of the officials, an Electoral Officer for the LGA, confessed to being guilty of the crime, but did not mention who is behind the operation as he asked for forgiveness.

When his phone log was checked it was discovered that he had had constant voice and SMS communication with the PDP chief.

He also did not deny that he was in one of the vehicles, which belonged to a PDP stalwart in Obokun.

They were caught at about 3am by the vigilant people of Otan-Ile who then wanted to carry out jungle justice on them, but were stopped by the quick intervention of the police.

The car used in the operation had a registration number FG816V01 and was used to move the materials and the suspects are right now in police holding at the Police Command in Oshogbo.

APC had earlier accused the Federal Government of planning to intimidate the people of Osun in other to rig the election via the deployment of armed security officials to the state.

While the Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, had stated that the presidency decided to deploy armed soldiers to Osun State to ensure that the governorship election is held in a peaceful environment.
