Location Of Gwoza Emir Unknown After Boko Haram Attack
Following the yesterday's attack on Gwoza, Borno State, by suspected Boko Haram insurgents it is still known nothing about the whereabouts of the Emir of Gwoza.
According to Sahara Reporters neither security nor the locals can provide this information. It is believed the sect members captured the recently appointed Emir Mohammed Timta in a daring raid.
It would be recalled that the new traditional ruler was announced on June 11 amid Boko Haram fears after his father, Alhaji Idrisa Timta, had died in a ghastly attack by the insurgents on May 30.
Commenting on the location of the new Emir, his relative from Abuja confirmed none of his family members, he managed to contact, had been aware of Timta's whereabouts.
"None of them has any idea about where the Emir is."
It was also reported that following the yesterday's capture by the insurgents, Nigerian military were yet to seize back Gwoza.
The August 6 attack by the heavily-armed gunmen is believed to have claimed scores of lives, with many women, children and elderly people among the victims.
When recently asked about why Boko Haram terrorists were targeting northern monarchs, the Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar El-Kanemi responded that it was because they had been cooperating with security to fight terrorism.
