Interpol Arrests Diego Maradona's Ex-Girlfriend

Latest news emanating from South American nation of Argentina suggest that an ex-girlfriend of legendary footballer Diego Maradona, Rocio Oliva, was arrested on Wednesday, 16 July, 2014, at a Buenos Aires airport.

According to police reports, Oliva was arrested by Interpol agents for allegedly stealing from Maradona in Dubai.

“Rocio Oliva was arrested by Interpol agents when she arrived at the (Ezeiza International) terminal around 7.20pm (22:20 GMT) on a flight,” a federal police source said.

It was gathered that the Argentine footballer, 53, charges that Oliva, 22, made off with items including watches and diamond earrings from their former home.

Sources stated that the footballer traveled to Dubai to file the suit.

Thereafter, the UAE authorities issued an international arrest warrant for her.

However, Oliva, an Argentine national and a former football player, has denied all the allegations leveled against her.

Rather, it was reported that she has charged that Maradona struck her.

It was gathered that the duo lived together in Dubai while Maradona was hired as a sports promoter.

It would be recalled that Maradona and Oliva were in the news earlier this year when reports of their engagement surfaced, amidst allegations made by another ex-girlfriend of Maradona, Veronic Odeja that she was carrying their second child and his sixth.

According to Wikipedia, Diego Armando Maradona Franco was born 30 October, 1960. He has served as a manager and coach at other clubs as well as for the national team of Argentina.

Many experts, football critics, former players, current players and football fans regard Maradona as the best football player of all times.

In his international career, playing for Argentina, he earned 91 caps and scored 34 goals.
