Armed Robbers In Police Uniform Arrested During Operation
Members of an armed robbery gang, who made use of Mobile Police uniforms to carry out their criminal acts in Lagos, have been arrested by the police command of the state.

The suspects were nabbed following a tip-off to the Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, who directed men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, led by SP Abba Kyari, to go after them.
According to Punch report, they were arrested on June 22 during an operation at Ile Zik area on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
The suspects, whose names were given as Julius George, Samuel Orgah, Lucky Oliseh and Lucky Friday confessed to the police that the police uniforms were provided by their leader, George.

Confessing to the crime, 34-year-old George who is a native of Otupko, Benue State, married and has children, said he'd told other members of his gang that he was a policeman and that he bought the Mobile Police uniforms which he gave to is gang from a market.
According to another of the suspect, Oliseh, he only met George three weeks before their arrest when the latter invited him for the N8m robbery in Ile Zik area.
Meanwhile Friday said he met George three months ago at Iyana -Oba where they became friends and he'd never gone on an operation with the gang before. He said he was not aware they were going for a robbery operation as he was invited by George to escort him to go and collect money.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide said the robbers were nabbed during a robbery operation where they had worn a T-shirt with a ‘Mopol’ inscription, adding that investigations were ongoing.
