We will not condone unseriousness from teachers - Alhaji Waziri

In furtherance to improving the quality of education in Kano State, the chairman of the state's Universal Basic Education Board, Alhaji Wada Zakari, has frowned at teachers who do not do their duties.

The SUBEB chairman made it known to primary schoolteachers in the state that no unseriousness of any sort will be condoned from any defiant teacher. The chairman's unplanned visit to Kofar Naisa Primary school and Yan’awaki Primary Schools  in Kano yesterday, revealed over 55 teachers who are absent from their duty posts.

Alhaji Zakari threatened that all defaulters will be posted against their will to Kano as punishments for their absence, comanded the Education Secretary of Gwale Local Government Education Authority to serve the 55 absent teachers a query letter each; warning that any teacher, who fails to give satisfactory reasons for his or her absence, would face disciplinary action.

Zakari enjoined school inspectors to rise up to their responsibilities by ensuring that teachers come to work regularly and close at the scheduled time. It would be recalled that recently, the Chief Executive Officer of the African Human Development Centre (AHDC), Professor Gabriel Umoh,  said that about 132million children of primary and secondary school age lack access to globally education.
