The key suspect in the abduction of Chibok girls, Babuji Ya’ari, who was arrested after Nigerian security reportedly busted Boko Haram intelligence cell, has been moved to Abuja.

The key suspect, Babuji Ya’ari

According to a top security source, he was moved to Abuja early this week from his Maiduguri base, where he was arrested and he is being interrogated by security agents who are trying to get information from him that would help in the release of the girls, Punch reports.

The suspect, who is reportedly a businessman is said to be under intense interrogation, and is expected to provide vital information on how the abduction was carried out, give a clue on the location of the girls in Sambisa Forest and other hideouts where the girls were being kept.

"I can tell you that the suspect has been moved to Abuja. He was brought to Abuja early this week. He is being interrogated in connection with the abduction of the girls.

"What is important to the Federal Government now is how to secure the release of the girls. He has made useful information that will assist security agencies," the source said.

The source added that the General Officer Commanding 7th Division, Nigerian Army, Brig. Gen. M.Y. Ibrahim, was also at the Defence Headquarters for a strategic security meeting, which might have something to do with the arrest of Ya’ari and the ongoing investigation into the abduction of the Chibok girls.

It was reported on June 30 that the Nigerian security had busted Boko Haram intelligence cell headed by a businessman Babuji Ya’ari, who was allegedly behind the abduction of over 200 Chibok school girls who were taken from their school in Chibok, Borno State by Boko Haram on April 14, 2014.

In less than two days after he was nabbed, a female accomplice of the dreaded Boko Haram sect, Hafsat Bako, was arrested.
