APC Challenges PDP To Change Party's Campaign Style

Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has challenged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to make its campaign open instead of embarking on house-to-house one.

According to the APC, the open campaign would show how credible the PDP’s claim to unseat Governor Rauf Aregbesola is in the August 9 governorship election.

Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, made a statement, saying that "it is curious that 45 days to the crucial election, the PDP and its governorship candidate are not visible on the campaign trail."

"They are only loud with the lies they propagate in the media, and the false claims of support that is non-existent in cities and towns of Osun," Oyatomi said.

"Aregbesola is roaring with unprecedented crowd that shows massive grassroots support which is only reminiscent of Obafemi Awolowo’s political campaigns of the 70s and 80s," he added.

APC challenged them "to come out of their coven of fraud, lies and false claims," wondering that "even with the encouragement they have from APC’s loss of Ekiti, the PDP still cannot summon the courage to hit the campaign trail."

Mr. Kunle Oyatomi said the PDP lacks the support to mount a challenge against Aregbesola in Osun State.

But the PDP in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Prince Bola Ajao, replied to the APC, saying that it had no business with the style of the party’s campaign. The PDP stressed that "if the PDP chose to campaign from house to house, I don’t think it is the concern of the APC or any other political party."

He said the APC should concentrate on its preparation for the August 9 election as the PDP has done and stop intervening on issues that do not affect the APC.
