LASU Announces Academic Calendar For 2013/2014 Session

Despite lecturers’ strike, Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, managed to release an approved academic calendar for the 2013/2014 session, which is applicable to both fresh and returning students, NAN reports.

The information was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of LASU, Kayode Sutton on June 27, 2014, Friday.

The first semester of the session would last for 14 weeks, commencing from June 23, 2014 and finishing on September 22, 2014.

The spokesperson urged the students to resume, commence online registration and lectures.

LASU official added that grading, uploading of results and department/faculty board consideration of results, as well as uploading of corrections are to be over by week 13, which is on September 19, according to the schedule. 

The second semester starts immediately after the first semester ends. The period is September 23, 2014 – January 12, 2015.

Minimum 70% of attendance for lectures is required before a student would be eligible to sit for examinations.

LASU PRO further revealed that students have already started returning to campuses for lectures in their respective faculties, which is in compliance with the directive by the administration of the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Oladapo Obafunwa, led a group of principal officers to inspect faculties on June 26, 2014. The officials embarked on a tour to monitor compliance with the resumption directive.

It would be added that return of normal activities to LASU become possible following mass students’ protests and alleged Governor Babatunde Fashola’s intervention, which led to reduction of tuition fees.
