PHOTOS: Fayose Campaign Train vs Fayemi's Campain Rally
The current Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi and the former Governor of Ekiti, Peter Ayodele Fayose have begun their campaigns for the post of a governor in the state.
It would be recalled that Kayode Fayemi is the APC gubernatorial candidate while Ayodele Fayose is the PDP flag bearer in the 2014 Governorship Election slated for June 21.
A recent opinion poll conducted by a local research company, Brand Surveys Ltd, has rated Dr. Kayode Fayemi, as the preferred candidate by a majority of registered voters in Ekiti State. The study was conducted last across the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State.
A majority of respondents representing 68 % of the people interviewed via questionnaire survey want the incumbent governor, Fayemi to continue in office to consolidate on the different spheres of his 8-point agenda.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr. Ayo Fayose, was preferred by 28 % of respondents while his Labour Party counterpart Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele scored 4% in the poll.

The elections were preceded by several clashes between APC, PDP supporters and the Nigeria anti-riot police - a peaceful APC street rally led by Senator Babafemi Ojudu, on June 7 in Ado Ekiti was attacked by the anti-riot police and resulted in the death of one person, while several others sustained injuries.
According to the statement by the leading opposition force of Nigeria, people have been killed by the police in accordance with a script masterminded by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Presidency.
Earlier a former FCT Minister and one of the first fiddles of the All Progressives Congress, Nasir El-Rufai, warned that the Administration of President Goodluck Jonathan is doing its best to facilitate the rigging of this weekend’s elections in Ekiti State.
It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan promised to ensure the development of Ekiti State if the people of the state vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mr. Ayo Fayose.

The governors – Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State – were billed to participate in APC’s mass rally on Friday(today) to shore up support for Governor Kayode Fayemi ahead of Saturday’s governorship poll in Ekiti State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) informed on June 19 that a special nationwide campaign would be launched to encourage the voters to participate actively in the upcoming 2015 general elections.
Nigerian Police also has taken measures to enhance security ahead of the Saturday gubernatorial election in Ekiti State."The measures are taken in order to ensure a proper coordination of security operations and thus realizing a hitch-free election, devoid of electoral fraud", the police spokesperson Frank Mba said.
