NOA DG Mike Omeri Meets CDS Air Marshal Alex Badeh

The General Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mike Omeri, paid a visit and held negotiations with the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Air Marshal Alex Badeh at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

According to the press release by DHQ dated June 18, 2014, Wednesday, the purpose of the visit was presentation of the country’s Centenary Flag to the CDS.

Omeri, who lead a management team of his agency to the meeting, emphasised that the flag signifies the travails and triumphs of Nigeria. He added that it should become another important symbol for the nation, both in private and public sectors.

NOA boss extolled the virtues of the Nigerian Army, tagged it as “professional and courageous institution that truly loves the country”. Omeri added that these attributes explain their exploits in various global operational theatres through their participation in peacekeeping operations.

In his return, Alex Badeh assured Omeri and his delegation that the current security challenges of Nigeria would soon be resolved. The CDS further stated that the military would “continue to assist and strengthen the democratic credentials of the country”.

The air marshal further debunked all the allegations, especially by online media, claiming that Nigeria would soon experience “an impending coup de’tat” (sudden violent or illegal seizure of government). The CDS declared that this cannot be true, such a thing will never occur in Nigeria under the watch of the present leadership of the military.

It would be noted that earlier today Mike Omeri and DSS Deputy Director Marilyn Ogar made a joint statement according to which Abuja may be targeted by Boko Haram suicide bombers, who would use hijacked petrol tankers laden with explosives. The officials urged all the Nigerians to be vigilant.
