Today, Tuesday, December 29, a tanker loaded with diesel caught fire around the Lekki area, Lagos.
Twitter is overwhelmed with the burning truck photos and videos taken by the bypassing drivers.
According to the official Twitter account of Lekki Concession Company, the drivers moving to Sandfield from the Lekki roundabout were advised to use another route in order not to catch fire.
Later, company representatives reported that the fire razing the truck at the Lekki area in Lagos was extinguished.
Road accidents of this kind often generate a short-lived public discontent, with little to no reaction from the concerned authorities to take action and introduce plausible preventive measures.
Whether human, mechanical, or environmental, the occurence of factors leading to loss of lives and property must be reduced to a minimum. Legit.ng urges authorities responsible, speaking in this particular case, for the regulation of activities of tanker drivers should spring into effective action to show results.
