APC Accuse Jonathan, PDP Of Bringing Trouble To South West Ahead Of 2015
The All Progressives Congress (APC) reacted to the wave of violence in Ado Ekiti during an APC rally on June 7, 2014, Saturday. According to the statement by the leading opposition force of Nigeria, people have been killed by the police in accordance with a script masterminded by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Presidency.

The Interim National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, wondered in a statement on June 9, 2014, Monday, why the police force, which exists on the taxpayers’ money and must maintain law and order, turned their weapons on defenceless citizens.
The APC insisted that the procession in Ekiti was of peaceful nature and that the members were carrying their symbols, brooms, and not dangerous weapons. The procession was conducted in best traditions of political rallies, with singing and dancing in the streets. The party however noted that the carnival-like event was ended by teargas and live bullets by the police, without a proper reason or warning.
Therefore, the APC noted that such acts are inappropriate for any civilized society and deserve condemnation by all the citizens.
The main opposition force think that the only explanation for this act of violence is plan by President Goodluck Jonathan and his party to capture Ekiti State by all possible means and subsequently enter the South West during the 2015 general elections.
The APC declared that its members and the people of Ekiti would not allow “a blood-thirsty and compromised” Mopol Commander Gabriel Selekere and Brigade Commander Brig.-Gen. Momoh to select a new governor for them during governorship polls on June 21.
It concluded that the people would defend their votes, but at the same time urged the members to “remain peaceful despite the provocation from the PDP and its cohorts”.
It would be recalled that clashes during APC political rally in the capital city of Ekiti State, Ado Ekiti, resulted in the death of one person, while several others sustained injuries.
The Police Command of the state denied any responsibility in the death a person and the violence, blamed the organisers of the rally and Governor Kayode Fayemi.
