Borno Village Residents Arrest 20 Boko Haram Insurgents

Corageous residents of Mbulakudla village, Askira/Uba LGA, Borno State, pursued and arrested 20 Boko Haram members following the attack, which claimed at least 2 lives on Wednesday.

Speaking later with the journalists, the Community Chief Mallam Dawa Pogu said the young men had saved other villages from being wiped out by the terrorist group, Daily Independent reports.

According to him, terrified people run from one village to another in fear for their lives, but there is no escape from insurgency. Thus, he insisted the situation must be changed:

"We are thinking of the future of our children; they came, they kill and they left unchallenged. If we continue like this, there will be no village around our area in the nearest future... For how long shall we continue running away from these criminals who have no respect for religion or tribe or region?"

Pogu explained that along the highway from Maiduguri to Askira/Uba only several villages remained undestroyed.

The Chief also suggested that security people have their own problems and would not come for villagers' rescue until the authorities faced their hardships.
