OBJ spoke about the late business mogul and the undeclared winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential race in the capital city of Ogun State, Abeokuta, in presence of Governor Ibikunle Amosun and other stakeholders.

Obasanjo was a special guest at the 85th birthday of the founder/patron of the Nobel House College, Chief Olatunde Abudu, and the 4th Founder’s Day celebrations.

The former president acknowledged Abiola’s contribution to country’s development in all the spheres, emphasised on the sacrifice of the late politician.

Obasanjo acknowledged that Ogun state provided many great people for Nigeria, including presidents. Unfortunately, bad ‘belle’ prevented Abiola from becoming the third Nigeria’s president in office born in Ogun.

It would be noted that MKO Abiola was among 100 Nigerians honoured by a Centenary Award on February 28, 2014. However, the family of the late politician tagged the award as inappropriate and rejected it
