Despite the governors of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe spoke out against the president’s request of emergency rule extension in three northern states, it was finally approved by both houses.
The emergency rule will last for another six months in the states mostly affected by insurgency and it is the 2nd time the emergency rule is extended by the president.
A four-hour closed-door meeting attended by Senators from the affected states and the principal officers of the Senate resulted in the announcement of the lawmakers' approval of the request.
