The hoodlums were said to have opened some roofs from outside the lobby from where they threw in the bomb.

The former governor's house was almost reduced to ashes with the suspected highly explosive device which was allegedly planted by his political detractors.

According to Ohakim, he was informed about the tragic incident at about 1.30am by some security agents in the area.

A weeping Ohakim who was visibly touched by the incident said the bombed house, which he built in 1992 when he was a commissioner, was the only building he had in the state.

He added, "Now I have to knock at people’s door to have a place to sleep."
