Zuba Cottage Hospital Wasn't Opened For 5 Years Because Lack Of Budget
The Zuba Cottage Hospital remains unopened for 5 years because ancillary structures are yet to be added to the main building, the Deputy Director Works, Health and Human Services Secretariat in the FCTA, Mrs. Fausat Ibikunle, stated.
As a reaction to a media report about abandonment of Zuba Cottage Hospital, Mrs. Ibikunle said the given land was too small for the hospital and it could not accommodate complementing facilities like doctors’ quarters, maintenance house and kitchen/canteen.
She also denied report that says the hospital constructed five years ago isn't open because of structural defect. "There’s no problem with the main building," Mrs. Ibikunle stated.
According to her, the administration wrote to the Gwagwalada Area Council for additional land to accommodate all necessary structures, but only tree years after the council granted money to acquire the adjoining plots for the hospital.
She explained that the drawings for the additional buildings have been done. But, unfortunately, there was no budget last year. However, she expressed hope that the budget will be this year.
According to the leader of Zuba Youth Development Forum, Mr. Yahaya Salihu Zuba, the hospital was abandoned because the building does not conform to its plan.
