Jet Shoes project by NASA was developed in the 60's
Amazing photos of an invention that was stopped in the middle of the making – jet shoes created by NASA.
The shoes were never made in its final form, however, the photos and the documents reveal how close the inventors were to making them.
A new look on the invention was made by Popular Science, and the details of the project may amaze anyone especially those who were fans of futuristic movies back in the 90’s.
The idea of the shoes was first proposed in 1965, by John D. Bird, they were supposed to help astronauts to control their movements at times when they need to fix something in the system while at space.
The system of these shoes comprised of an oxygen tank and jet shoes with the control system inside. The control of the shoes was made via a special control switch worn on a toe of an astronaut.
The shoes were never developed due to the doubts they had over how the shoes would work in space and how the astronauts would be able to control the switch in a heavy compressed suit.
Still, bet most think this would be a great idea. Huffingtonpost even suggests that NASA forget Mars for a while and get working on these shoes.
You think these would have been sold to ordinary people?
