Edo PDP Welcome In APC, LP Defectors
More than 2000 members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Labour Party recently moved camps to the Peoples Democratic Party.
This occurred in Auchi, Edo State and Onasa Momoh, Edo North Senatorial Chairman of LP led the defectors and revealed they were defecting because PDP is an all incusive party.
Mr. Momoh also revealed that his former party, LP members were victimized, harassed and humiliated in the last state elections in Edo.
He said: “We must put an end to cartels and individuals who have perfected the culture of greed and selfishness.
“We have chosen to join a party that is focused on creating jobs within a moral economy, a party that responds to the needs of the vulnerable,” he said.
Meanwhile the APC defectors led by Lance Momodu described themselves as PDP members who were on “sabbatical” in APC.
Mr Momodu revealed that the reason they went to APC was because of Gov. Oshiomhole's promise of change, but the governor did not keep his word.
He said: He has failed us’’, “Instead of one man, one vote, what we are experiencing is one man, no vote. APC is disorganised and running a one man show and also playing the politics of exclusiveness,’’.
PDP state Chairman, Dan Orbih was on hand to welcome the defectors and praised their courage, he also described the defection as historic and noted it was humbling as the event was happening in the Oshiomhole's LGA.
He urged the new defectors to join hands with them to fight what he described as “oppression” in the state.
